Brief magazine analysis (Front cover)

Nme is mainly aimed at mainly 16-30 year olds. I believe the artists that feature in this magazine support that view as they are from the new-wave of Indie and pop. The writing used on the main article has this punk look to it, like that seen on the Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols album. This is obviously an retro look, but also has this modern, flamboyant look to it. The colour palette of red, white, black and yellow works extremely well; the magazine has this optimistic feel to it, but due to the images dominance, makes it extremely easy on the eye. Magazines aimed at younger people tend to be bright and colourful in an attempt to draw them in and capture their interest. I also think that it is aimed people aged 16-30 because the sell lines are about live music venues, new albums and success- light hearted topics for those who have spare time on their hands and enjoy to keep up with pop culture. The 'Farewell Astoria' sell line is aimed more towards the elder of the age bracket of the target audience as the venue was infamous in a different generation and has lost momentum in this current generation. It could be argued that the age bracket is older as this sell line suggests an elder audience but I stick to my original thoughts as Arctic Monkeys feature at the top. The 'New Monkeys Tunes' has this light hearted, youthful feel to it. It would be quite interesting to see if this colourful, flamboyant design ideology is apparant throughout the magazine or if it is just on the front cover in an attempt to draw a specific target audience in.
